John Campanaro
John grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts and enjoyed drawing at an early age and by the time he was in the third grade he was writing and illustrating his own picture books. He was making his own animated films at the age of twelve, and thought that was the thing he most wanted to do in life. He studied art and filmmaking in college and after graduating spent over a decade working as an animator and worked on commercials, TV shows like Bump in the Night, for ABC, and movies like 101 Dalmatians, Star Wars Special Edition for George Lucas. His ambition was to be both storyteller and artist, and working for other people and their projects was falling short of that ambition. So, he decided to return to making picture books, where he has free reign over the construction of story and image. He continues to this day to be satisfied with this pursuit as well as his second hobby, playing jazz piano.
